Areas in London You Can Spend the Whole Day In!
The lads at The Science Museum, South Kensington

London, London, London.

As big as this place is, sometimes it’s hard to actually make up your mind on what to do and where to go! So today, I’m making it simple for you—here are three places in London where you can spend the WHOLE day!

Richmond: The perfect city break, without leaving London.

Richmond Terrace Gardens

This is my favourite area in London!!!

Only 20 minutes from Waterloo, Richmond offers Londoners a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle, just moments away from the city centre. It’s no wonder this place has been crowned Britain’s happiest town—there’s a reason everyone here is smiling! You can’t walk by the riverside without a smile spreading across your face.

With parks, gardens, stunning views, cafés, and more, Richmond has everything you need for a relaxing day out in London. Here’s what you can do:

Amorino Gelato in Richmond
  • Visit Richmond Park – either on foot or by bike, explore the 2,500 acres of greenery where over 600 deer roam freely. It’s the perfect spot for nature lovers and a peaceful retreat in the city.
  • Explore the gardens – In addition to Richmond Park , you’ll find a plethora of beautiful gardens to wander through especially across Richmond Hill!!! Each offering a tranquil escape with lush green spaces.
  • Stroll through the town centre – While it may look like a typical high street, Richmond has a range of charming cafés, restaurants, and independent shops that you may not find in typical high streets in London!
  • Relax by the riverside – Best enjoyed in summer, but it’s stunning all year round. A riverside walk is always an excellent way to end a day out in Richmond.

Kingston: Richmond’s Little Sister

Kingston Town Centre

Kingston brings its own unique charm to the table with a riverside to match. With royal ties, this town offers a great mix of historical and cultural experiences. It’s also home to the largest Korean community in the UK!

Here are a few things to do in Kingston:

  • Shop at The Bentall Centre – Do your normal high street shopping in a different location! The Bentall Centre has all the top high-street stores, including H&M, Zara, Primark, and more. Get your shopping done while enjoying a change of scenery!
  • Indulge in Korean culture – Just a stone’s throw away, New Malden is home to the largest Korean community outside of South Korea. If you’re a fan of Korean food (or just curious), this is the place to be. Mr Kimchi is my personal favourite, but you’ll find plenty of fantastic options to indulge in!

Kensington: A Classic for a London Day Out

I don't know what building this is 🙂

This one’s a classic, but you really can’t go wrong with a day spent here! From museums to galleries, Kensington has endless ways to keep you entertained, and its picturesque streets lined with gardens are a sight to behold.

The Science Museum, South Kensington

Here are some top spots to visit in Kensington:

  • Japan House London – A unique cultural centre where you can explore exhibitions and learn about Japan’s rich heritage.
  • Science Museum – A timeless favourite. Whether you’re a science buff or just curious, it’s a must-visit for all ages.
  • Serpentine Gallery – If you’re into contemporary art, this gallery offers thought-provoking exhibitions in the heart of Kensington Gardens.
  • Kensington Gardens – No trip to Kensington is complete without a stroll through Kensington Gardens. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic surrounded by lush greenery.

Not to mention the countless cafe's restaurants and more you'll find dotted around High Street Kensington, South Kensington and more!

Anyways!

There you have it—three amazing areas in London where you can spend an entire day! From the nature-filled escape of Richmond to the cultural charm of Kingston and the timeless appeal of Kensington, each offers a unique experience.

Visit these spots, but until then, find a hidden gem near you!
